The tarpon is one of the smartest fish there are and fooling one into taking a bait can be harder than just putting the bait in front of his face, even with live bait.
There have been so many times that I’ve been out there fishing live mullet where you can see the tarpon circling the bait or rolling on it but not taking it. Sometimes they’ll do it until the bait is completely exhausted and still not even take it. It can be quite a heart wrenching experience but the visuals can be insane.
This piece is a nod to that moment and the intelligence of the fish.
FRAMINGThe frames Alex offers are built by hand from reclaimed wood. Alex treats, cuts, stains, and assembles the frames all by hand in his studio. If you decide to have Alex make a custom frame for your piece he will reach out to you to discuss the details (i.e. Color, width, approximate weight.) The process will take between 2-3 weeks.
